Plastic Sharks On Imaginary Reef
Mixed media painting inspired by and Including plastic toy sharks. The idea was to take a discarded piece of plastic (that could have ended up in the ocean) and create a painting out of it. I would normally only reference an image or use a toy as a drawing model. This time I got to physically include the normally discarded parts and actually show the inspirational items directly on the piece. Sharks made of plastic seemed so surreal, considering the problem of plastic in the ocean. This compelled me to collect them, use them, and make sure this plastic will not end up in the ocean.
