Golden Hour
Roy Bjornson: The hours you spent planning, executing, and cleverly setting up the time mechanism on this clock is not lost on me. Likely long gone, Roy no longer needs to feel bad someone discarded his clock. Today, this beautiful piece doubles as a clock and one of a kind jewelry box.
I grabbed this clock as the perfect project to give new life to an otherwise discarded object! A man burned his autograph into the back notating his joy at completing this handmade project, only to have someone dump it like yesterdays junk. To some it may appear old and outdated, yet this was exactly what I was looking for as I began to think about an upcycled project. This clock still works and chimes on the half and hour. I painted it gold because I wanted a light color on it in order to still see the wood grain and patterns this gentleman spent so much time cutting, sanding, and finishing. This is when I decided to call it "Golden Hour". Inspiration trickled over to my painting that represents the "actual" golden hour. The inside of this clock would become the most perfect jewelry box created out of cabinet handles and matching bolts found at the recycle center. I used a matching paper I found this past summer in Louisiana. Once again, I used all Golden Artist Products.
